Michele M. Moore
Senior Counselor
Michele
M. Moore is a senior counselor for the Walker Marchant Group (WMG) with
20 years of experience as a communications and marketing executive for
Fortune 500 corporations, government and nonprofit entities. She has spearheaded
communications operations across a wide range of environments from New
Orleans politics and civil rights to telecommunications, MTV and Nickelodeon. Her
expertise includes strategic communications and planning, public relations,
messaging, executive media training, brand marketing, television production
and event management. Michele holds a law degree and brings her
broad array of corporate and legal experience to benefit the clients of
WMG.
Prior to joining WMG, Michele served as Senior Vice President, Marketing
and Communications for the National Urban League (NUL), the nation's oldest
and largest civil rights and direct services organization, serving two
million people each year in more than 100 urban communities through job
training, home ownership, youth programs, business development and more.
At NUL, Michele was responsible for the strategic development and execution
of all marketing, public relations, conferences and publications activities.
She successfully developed a brand re-launch and strategy to reposition
and modernize the NUL including the logo redesign, brand synergies, messaging,
customized marketing tool kits, new website and style guide. She launched Urban
Influence magazine targeted to young professionals, reshaped NUL's
national conference with 10,000 attendees and revitalized the State
of Black America report with the addition of the Equality Index, a
statistical measurement of Black progress in America from health to economic
status.
Before joining the League in 2003, she managed brand communications and
public relations for Nickelodeon television and Nick Enterprises, a $1.5
billion annual business, comprised of consumer products, brand marketing,
publishing, and recreation and Web site divisions. She executed the publicity
launches of award winning kids brands, SpongeBob Squarepants, Dora
the Explorer and Little Bill, generating major coverage in
the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Business Week, Today
Show, Latina and Essence.
Michele came to Nickelodeon from Black Entertainment Television (BET),
where she served as Vice President, Corporate Communications. At BET,
she was responsible for corporate communications for its four cable TV
networks, film, magazine, book publishing, and retail and restaurant divisions.
She also secured a profile on the success of BET and its Chairman, Robert
Johnson on the coveted CBS news program 60 Minutes.
Michele's government and public affairs experience includes serving
as the Communications Director and Press Secretary for former New Orleans
Mayor Marc Morial, where she directed media relations activities for 50
city departments and agencies. She was also the Government and Community
Relations Manager for Cox Communications in New Orleans (1989-94).
A native of Los Angeles, Michele graduated from the University of California
Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in
1983. She earned her Juris Doctor degree from Howard University
School of Law in 1986. She serves on the African American Advisory Council
for Nielsen Media Research and chairs the Women's Institute for Ethnic
Studies.
